Lady grinning soul

I like most classic rock bands. You'll find here mainly Queen, Joan Jett, David Bowie, The Beatles and Duran Duran (I have an 80s new wave weakness)
You will also see doctor who, the mighty boosh, some ricky gervais and a bit of sherlock here and there
Have fun and close the door on your way out.
Dear every other teenager who attends my school.

dontdeceivewithbelief:

Think of all the beautiful words, in the English language alone, you can express dislike with. Think not only of them, but the colours that swirl between and within them. Think of the tastes and textures, the stories to be told! The conversations that can and will spiral in no particular direction, but will be a rich cloth of knitted words. Think. There are one millions ways to express dislike—there are ways to make it beautiful. So why, oh why must you use ‘gay’? He, she, him, her, it, it’s, you’re, gay.
No. Actually. Whatever you are referring to is most-likely not homosexual or happy. You are wrong. You are offensive.
Sure, argue that the word is gaining a new meaning. I’m all for language developing. But when it’s in a half-context, and it’s meant with negative cruel intent, I have an issue.
It seems the ‘new use’ for the word has derived directly from, there is an issue with being gay. It’s bad. Right?
How about no.
So, there’s something wrong with being happy then…?
Uh, also no.
The way I see it gay—as in homosexual—and gay—as in happy—can coexist within the same word, quite happily so. You can be a person and be happy, therefore can be gay and be happy.
BUT you cannot be wrong and/or ‘bad’ for being gay. You cannot be—on the whole—bad for being happy. And you MOST CERTAINLY cannot be bad and wrong for being gay (aka being a free-thinking and feeling person)
So please, use the amazing textural words within the words to make your point. Don’t be lazy and accept a trend you know damn well, is not right.
And if you have read this, and disagree, as in, you think being ‘gay’ in either sense of the word is somehow ‘wrong’, then I seriously suggest you never run into me. For I warn you in advance, I have some fairly textual and colourful words to share with you on the matter.

Lots of love from the nerd in the front row who never says anything.
